The second half was much like the first as the Cardinals wore down Medaille. Fisher was able to make a lot of substitutions in the second half which payed off greatly as the bench stepped up to extend the lead. It was a great way to end the preseason for the Cardinals as they head into their first regular season game at Hilbert College. http://bit.ly/UuXtNZ Medaille will look to regroup as they host their opening season game next week. http://bit.ly/VSfAxo

After a half of play
Second chance points kept Medaille in the game as Fisher was out hustled on the boards. At the halfway point in the half Medaille held a one point advantage until Mike Cardone made an easy lay-in for Fisher. It was a great back and forth battle by both teams, but the Cardinals started to pull away towards the end of the half. The Mavericks turned the ball over 10 times in the half which led to Fisher to pull away with a 41-29.
Fisher starting to heat up
Five minutes into the game both teams are knotted up at 8 until Medaille’s Coleman nailed a three. The teams make their first substitutions in the game as Adam Ambielli and Grant Wrap come off the bench for the Cardinals. Ambielli caught fire making three long range jump shots to give the Cardinals their first lead of the game.
First Half of Play
After Medaille won the tip off they had an easy lay-up, but was blocked by Chaz Lott, http://bit.ly/UuWld8, who hustled down the court for the rejection. Both teams are coming out in a man to man defense with Medaille playing a pressured on ball style of defense. In the early going the Cardinals look a little rattled as with Medaille’s pressure and intensity. Mavericks Anthony Battaglia and Jammal Coleman, http://bit.ly/Tzflka, got them on the board early scoring three points a piece. Optimystik Kinard scored the Cardinals first bucket of the game as Fisher trailed early.
Basketball Alumni Day
Today is Fisher basketball Alumni day where the college honors and celebrates former basketball players. Cardinal t-shirts are on sale and at the end of the day there will be a lunch for all players, coaches, family, and fans. Some of the alumni attending the event are participating in a scrimmage against the St. John Fisher College Junior Varsity team after the conclusion of the Varsity exhibition game. These guys may be a little out of shape, but they can still play very competitive basketball.
Pre-game report
The St. John Fisher basketball team will be hosting Medaille College, http://bit.ly/SLfLp5, today for a scrimmage at 12. St. John Fisher is coming off an impressive victory in their last exhibition game as they defeated York University 56-54. After already competing in two other scrimmages the Cardinals look to make some last minute improvements to the team, as they begin their regular season next week. Coach Rob Kornaker and the players are ready for the season to begin; however they know not to overlook a very young Medaille team. The Mavericks in their last exhibition game defeated the University of Guelph 66-57. This will be an interesting game to see which team can grab some momentum heading into their regular season games.
